NVL FINALS: Holy Cross baseball walks off again on St. Paul; Persechino swings big bat in loss to Seymour

The area emerged with one NVL championship on Friday night, and it came from the baseball final between Holy Cross and St. Paul.
For the second time in a week, the Crusaders walked off on the Falcons, this time on a bases loaded walk to win 6-5. Senior Justin Alamo drew the walk that brought home the championship-clinching run. Holy Cross junior Will Greene was named Most Outstanding Player of the tournament.
In softball, Seymour dominated the third meeting against St. Paul, winning by a score of 16-2. Jessica Persechino homered, tripled and scored both runs for the Falcons. Senior Chelsea Avila of the Wildcats was named Most Outstanding Player.

All four of these teams will play in the state tournament. Seeds for those tournaments were released earlier in the day Friday.
Holy Cross and St. Paul baseball could see each other again in a Class S semifinal if things fall their way. The Crusaders are the No. 2 seed and the Falcons are No. 3.
In softball, St. Paul is the No. 2 seed in Class S. Seymour is the No. 4 seed in Class M.
